WCCM Benedictine Oblates are encouraged to read a designated portion of the Rule daily, and to write a brief, personal response. I hope that this blog will support our Oblate community in this practice. Please, keep blog entries brief and in a first-person ("I") voice. Chapter 7: The value of humility (paragraph 9)

The third step of humility is to submit oneself out of love of God to whatever obedience under a superior may require of us; it is the example of the Lord himself that we follow in this way, as we know from St Paul's words: he was made obedient even unto death.

Relationships that mediate the love of Christ require obedience of me.

When a response seems hard and the acceptance of another's opinion faces me even though I may disagree, I think of the farmer and the seed that is sown. In the silent soil of my heart lies the answer waiting to open in a loving way.
